Let’s be honest!
Is there something else you are supposed to be doing now? An assignment, Laundry, household work, etc.Etc...
Well, you should be doing those things but instead,
You are here reading my Blog! HA HA HA......
I am here to share a similar incident that happens to me often.
Sorry Story:
This morning I woke up and got ready quickly because I had to get my assignment done. Then I sat down at my desk to start my assignment that's when I saw my desk was messy so I decided to clean it up because a clean desk would help me get my assignment done.
When I was finished I realized I hadn't eaten anything and I dint want to be hungry while I get my assignment done. So, I went to the kitchen and I dint like the food So I decided to go to a restaurant and eat something. After I was done eating I remembered a bunch of stuff to be bought from a nearby grocery store and I decided to buy them since I was already out and dint wants to be disturbed by its thought when I get my assignment done.
When I got back home my friend invited me for a game of snooker over the phone and I agreed to it because a relaxed mind would help me get my assignment done.
By the time I reached home, it was already kind of late and I knew I wouldn't be able to get my assignment done today. So I decided to watch Netflix and started to text people on whats app, but I just had to make sure I hit the bed early because I need to be well rested tomorrow So that I can get my assignment done!
Procrastination:
The story was Funny, isn’t it? Trust me, this happens to the majority of people around the world. We tend to procrastinate a lot of our most important duties because it does not align with our current comfort level or assume we have lots of time before the deadline. And yes the best part is this procrastination is highly contagious soo very contagious that the right time, right comfort level, and the right seating position rarely come.
I am pretty sure every one of us is desperately trying to get rid of this habit.
We have lots of experts and scholars advising and writing on the topic 'How to beat procrastination '. But Let me tell you something, nothing works best like one’s own solution for one's problem.
I was contemplating to find out the reason for my procrastination .........thinking ....... thinking........thinking.......... alas! Came to the answer- Learn to say no buddy.
Learn to say no:
I was a continuous yes er for everything (now you might think oh I can ask this guy to do anything). NOOO . The yes was not for outside stimuli but for internal responses. Initially, I used to think it is because of him/her I was not able to fulfill my expectations but it’s now that I realized that it’s not because of them but it’s because of me that I was not able to complete.
Then I started watching my thoughts. When I had to say a Yes, the amount of cognition and the speed at which it took place was much faster than compared saying a NO.
That’s when I decided that I need to practice saying no to my internal cravings so that I am able to prioritize the most important need in order.
You are welcome to try this. Trust me it helps.
Say NO! Achieve more!
P.S.:I finished my assignment ;)
